What makes you a good mentor?
I have been fortunate to have several mentors from Carleton that have helped me grow both personally and professionally. I would like to pass on the knowledge and insight I have acquired over the years to students who may be unsure of their next steps post graduation or still trying to determine what their passions are. Through getting to know my mentee, I can help guide them towards their interests through offering advice and sharing my experience, asking the right questions, setting goals, and providing access to resources to help them succeed and fulfill their potential.
About Lisa Shinder
I hold an undergraduate degree in International Business with a specialization in International Marketing and Trade and a minor in Spanish. I spent a full academic year abroad in Madrid, Spain where I also had the opportunity to explore numerous countries across Europe, fuelling my love for travelling the world.
I currently work at Export Development Canada as a Program Associate in Strategy and Operations. I am responsible for managing the relationship between Export Development Canada and their recently formed subsidiary, FinDev Canada, through the centralized coordination and management of tools, processes and relationships across all business lines in the organization. My role involves client relationship management, conflict and issues resolution, business strategy, as well as project management. Prior to my current position, I’ve had the opportunity to work in various roles in consultant recruitment, workforce planning, business transformation and technology.
