What makes you a good mentor?
I became involved with the Carleton Alumni Mentorship program during the inaugural year of the program as a mentee. My mentors helped me navigate life after university and as a young professional in the workforce. I've experienced firsthand as a mentee how powerful and helpful this program can be, and I'm excited to give back as a mentor. I am looking forward to helping students or recent graduates navigate their next steps in life.
About Victoria Klassen
Victoria Klassen graduated with a Bachelor of Journalism (double major in English) and a Master’s in Communications from Carleton University. She has worked as the editor of the Canadian Museums Association’s Muse Magazine (2016) and Freestyle Ontario’s Magazine (2018) and has over 200 articles published in print.
She works as the Canadian Lacrosse Association in Communications and Marketing. She enjoys providing communications and media support to Team Canada Lacrosse when they attend world championships and other international events. Previously, she worked for the Sprott School of Business in communications.
When Victoria is not busy writing stories, she can be found reading them. She co-founded the Carleton University Book Ravens club in 2014, and continues to review ARCs for her book blog. In the summer, Victoria is often busy playing soccer, ultimate frisbee, or volunteering at Camp Quality Eastern Ontario (a summer camp for children with cancer and their siblings). In the winter, she can be found on a ski hill either skiing for pleasure or coaching freestyle skiing to children. She also enjoys photography, creative writing, open-water diving and travelling.
