What makes you a good mentor?
Carleton provided me the opportunity and resources to build my career by exposing me to great Professors, advisors, mentors, and a network of professionals and aspiring students. I see this as an opportunity to give back to the both the University and the students, and hope to help other students achieve their professional dreams by providing advice, guidance, and friendship.
About Sami Kabir
In my current role as Senior Associate, M&A, my main responsibilities include running M&A deal mandates, which includes business and financial analysis, building financial models and pitchbooks, and conducting due diligence on buy-side and sell-side M&A transactions. In addition to this, I am also tasked with continued business development and deal origination.
Prior to join WelchGroup Consulting, I have ~five years of experience working in various areas in Finance, which include an Associate role with Sampford Advisors, a tech focused boutique Investment Bank; Senior Financial Analyst, Financial Planning & Analysis at Brookfield Renewable Energy; and Analyst, Commercial Banking with Scotiabank, which was my first professional work experience after graduating from Carleton in 2012.
In addition to my undergraduate Commerce degree in Accounting, I have been pursuing my CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) designation and am scheduled to write the third and final exam this summer. When I’m not working or studying, I can be found reading, staying active, travelling or watching the Sens!
