What makes you a good mentor?
I am currently involved in several professional programs as both a mentee and a mentor. Mentorship has been tremendously helpful in building my career, and I am always keen to spend time with up-and-coming talent. Most importantly, as a woman working in sports media, I am passionate about helping diverse voices get into the industry.
About Jamie McCormick
I am a sports media professional and writer with a broad range of experience including sales, project management, communications, and creative development.
Simply put, I’m a Jamie of all trades (and a master of puns).
After completing my postgraduate in screenwriting, I worked at a digital production company that specialized in children’s and comedic web series. I was the associate producer on the Emmy Award-nominated series, “How to Buy a Baby,” and I am credited on CBC’s “Detention Adventure.”
Currently, I work at Sportsnet executing digital and broadcast sponsorships for advertising partners. My account portfolio includes brands like Sports Interaction, Skip The Dishes, and KitKat.
Outside of work, I act as the Communications Strategy Lead for the women’s network within Rogers, and in 2020 I launched My Side Piece, a bi-weekly newsletter focused on women’s sports, pop culture, and sexism in the media.
