About James Hale

James Hale has built a writing and communications strategy practice that has included corporate branding, executive speechwriting, video scriptwriting, and white paper development.

Since 1986, his roster of clients has included: Bell Canada, Canopy Growth Corporation, numerous departments/agencies within the Government of Canada, Commvault, CRB, HST Pathways, the Canadian Medical Association, the International Society of Pharmaceutical Engineering, the Information Technology Association of Canada, Evidence Partners, LabVantage Solutions, PerkinElmer, and numerous others in the public and private sectors.

During more than 35 years, he has developed deep specialization in areas that include cybersecurity, recreational and therapeutic cannabis, healthcare policy, and data management within pharmaceutical laboratories.

In parallel, James has established a 30-year practice in music journalism, which includes more than two decades as a senior critic and feature writer for DownBeat magazine, co-authorship of The Billboard Illustrated Encyclopedia of Jazz & Blues, and publication in a wide range of digital and print journals.

He has written eight books, including a history of agricultural supply management in Canada, a history of the Royal Canadian Legion, and several travel guides. A longtime broadcaster, he has also produced radio documentaries for the CBC.
