What makes you a good mentor?

I believe life is all about the connections we make with others to make the world a slightly better place because we were here. I have benefitted from mentorship, career coaching, great friendships, and am always happy to do the same. I have also learned a great deal from the people I have mentored.

About Jennifer Goldstone

I am currently the Manager of Regulatory Affairs at the Accessible Canada Directorate, Employment and Social Development Canada. Prior to this role I was a policy analyst with Justice Canada, working on a variety of files which involve coordination across the department and briefing senior officials. Past jobs also include coordinating the Government of Canada’s anti-drug strategy, working in communications for Justice Canada and Health Canada, as well as 13 years in communications for international affairs organizations.

My MA in Communications specialized in Indigenous studies, which led to my first federal government job doing communications on Indigenous health files in 2002.

My Bachelor of Journalism coincided with some short stints for Ottawa-based newspapers.

For many years, I also did communications consulting, including editing newsletters, books and brochures for a non-profit organization devoted to helping women in developing countries get out of situations of violence.

I have several volunteer commitments, including on my condo board and at the Montfort Hospital.

I do a lot of sports, including riding my horse, and enjoy time with family, friends and at church.

I am a mentor to a few government employees and have my own mentor, who guides me in my career.
