What makes you a good mentor?
I have had amazing mentors - both formal and informal - throughout my career who I value so deeply and credit with much of my personal development. I personally get so much out of being a mentor and always jump at the opportunity of these partnerships as I think there's so much to learn from each other.
About Kara Carnduff
Kara Savoy (she/her) is Penguin Random House Canada’s Director, Integrated Marketing, overseeing the performance marketing and operations teams, including advertising, events, title marketing, marketing analytics & email and consumer acquisition and web. Her team is responsible for planning and delivering the marketing plans for our entire catalogue of titles, with a specific focus on reacting to consumer and sales trends. She is also a marketing professor with the creative book publishing program at Humber College. Prior to joining PRHC, Kara spent almost six years at the PR and marketing agency High Road, where she worked with clients like Virgin Mobile, Sun Life, FedEx and Cadillac Fairview on their digital marketing programs.
She spent her days working on social and content plans, consumer acquisition strategies, and full website rebuilds. It was her work at High Road that landed her on Marketing Magazine’s Top 30 Under 30 list in 2016. She started her career in PR with the Department of National Defence in Ottawa, where she continued to live after receiving her Bachelor of Journalism from Carleton University. Now she calls Bradford, Ontario home, where she lives (and works!) alongside her husband, daughter, two cats and lots of books.
