What makes you a good mentor?
I believe we need strong, skilled and passionate journalists in Canada who can tell compelling stories to help Canadians understand the important issues of the day and if I can help someone starting out in the business to get to where they want to be, I'd really like to do that. I also believe in sharing knowledge and skills whenever possible and that building community is important in the professional sphere. I was helped by mentors, and still am so I understand the value of having someone pass down what they've learned to the next crop of young people.

Yael Berger is a producer on the daily radio show, Everything is Political: Campaign 2015 with Evan Solomon, covering the 2015 federal election campaign. Formerly, Yael was a parliamentary reporter for Hill Times Publishing with four years of experience covering federal politics on the Hill. She has worked as a Reporter with The Lobby Monitor, covering government relations, lobbying and advocacy, and Co-Editor of Parliament Now, a news service following the day-to-day events of Parliament. She has been a member of the Parliamentary Press Gallery since 2011.
Yael earned her Bachelor of Journalism degree at Carleton University with combined honours in Journalism and Political Science in 2010 and her Master of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Toronto in 2011.
