What makes you a good mentor?

I believe mentoring is crucial to the transition from student to professional. In a field as vast as communications, I found it was key to navigating the job market and determining a career path. My goal is to provide this opportunity for others following in a similar path as I did while giving back to the community that has given me so much.

About Alysha Cunningham

Alysha leads the communications efforts of Carleton’s Board of Governors and Senate. Whether print, web or social media – she is responsible for ensuring the promotions of all Secretariat deliberations, activities and events to the Carleton community. She also volunteers her time as a Carleton Therapy Dog Handler with her pup Athena.

Alysha has been helping non-profit organization’s tell their stories for over seven years. From digital media to content creation to branding, Alysha is a ‘Jill-of-all-trades’ who works tirelessly to advance her organization’s communication goals with the overall pursuit of creating an informed and engaged audience.

A proud alumna of Carleton, Alysha holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree in Communication Studies with a specialization in Image, Politics and Persuasion. In addition, she holds a Graduate Certificate in Corporate Communications from Seneca College.

A fool for the classics, Alysha minored in Greek and Roman Studies. It was her passion for ancient Greek literature and rhetoric that sparked her interest for a career in communications.
