New Alumni
1. How do I become a member of the Carleton University Alumni Association (CUAA)?
Membership in the Carleton University Alumni Association (CUAA) is free. All Carleton University students automatically become members of CUAA upon graduation. Students who have completed five full credits but are no longer registered at Carleton may also become members as alumnus non-graduates upon request. Once you become a Carleton Alumnus, all benefits carry throughout your journey and are accessible whenever you need them.
2. How do I order a display diploma?
You can order a distinctive 11×14 inch display diploma through the Registrar’s Office. They are available for Carleton University graduates from all programs and all years. For more information, please contact the Registrar’s Office at 613-520-3500 or visit their Display Diploma page.
3. Can I keep my Carleton student email account after graduation?
Yes, starting with the June 2004 convocation, Carleton has extended Connect and @cmail email accounts to all graduates.
Please note: Your email account may be deactivated if it is not accessed for a period of more than 90 days. To re-activate your account, or for any other student email related inquiries, please contact ITS at its.service.desk@carleton.ca.
4. How do I get an alumni email address?
You can request an @alumni email address using the online form. This email address can act as your correspondence method with Carleton. Our @alumni email is offered through Google’s Gmail application, which means you get access to all its unique features—storage, easy web access, spam filters, calendars and more.
5. My @alumni email address activation email has expired or I have forgotten my login information?
If you need assistance with activation or login information related to your @alumni email address, contact us via email at cu_proud@carleton.ca or call 613-520-3636 to have your credentials reset.
6. I am graduating. How do I obtain an alumni ID Card?
Although not necessary to become a member of CUAA, you may order an alumni ID card. This card will only be needed to take advantage of access to the library, athletic facilities and the VIA Rail alumni discount.
To order an ID card send an email to cu_proud@carleton.ca with your name, student ID# (if known), date of birth and your current mailing address. If you have applied to graduate, please wait for your approval from Carleton before requesting an alumni card.
Once your request has been processed, your card will be mailed to you.
7. Does Carleton have alumni chapters that I can join?
Yes, Carleton has a worldwide network of chapters and affiliates across Canada in major cities, the U.S. and overseas. These groups, run by alumni volunteers, help organize events, programs and other great opportunities to keep Carleton graduates in touch with the school and each other. 8. What are the perks available to CUAA members?

9. Can alumni still access resources from the library?
Graduates have access to more than three million books, serials, government documents, maps, newspapers, musical scores, compact discs, microforms, archives and rare books in the library’s physical collection. Please visit the library’s Services for Alumni web page for more details about borrowing privileges and off-campus database access.
To activate your Library account, order your alumni ID card by emailing cu_proud@carleton.ca with your request.
Once received, please contact the Access Services department in the Library by phone 613-520-2734 or email libcirc@library.carleton.ca to complete your registration.
10. How does Alumni Relations assist graduates with career services, job search and networking?
Carleton’s Career Services offers alumni a variety of assistance with job searching and other employment resources. These services are available for the entirety of your journey as an alumnus. More information is available on our career assistance page.

11. Where do I find the latest news about Carleton?
Stay up to date with all Carleton news by visiting the Carleton Newsroom.
12. I recently moved. How do I change my address and update other contact information with Carleton?
We want to stay in touch with you. Update your contact information using ouronline form or email us at cu_proud@carleton.ca.
Please include your full name, your student number (or date of birth) and your updated contact information.
13. I just changed my name. Can Carleton use my new name?
Unless otherwise notified, Carleton University will use the name on your original student record for all official correspondence and transactions. If you have legally changed your name, Carleton will update your official student record upon request. Information on how to update your official record is available on the Registrar’s Office website.
14. How do I obtain a copy of my transcript?
To obtain an official or unofficial transcript, contact the Registrar’s office by phone at 613-520-3500 or by email at registrar@carleton.ca.
Please note: The Registrar’s office will only respond to email requests from a Carleton issued email address. If you do not have access to your email address please contact cu_proud@carleton.ca.

15. How can I obtain my income tax forms from when I was a student (T2202A)?
Your income tax forms are available on your Carleton Central account. More information about accessing your income tax form is available on the Student Account’s website.
If you are unable to log into your Carleton Central account, please email Student Accounts at student_accounts@carleton.ca with your name and student ID#.
16. How can I register for a Learning and Retirement course?
Carleton University’s Centre for Initiatives in Education presents a daytime non-credit program for semi-retired and retired individuals, and others who are interested in learning for the fun of learning. Visit the Learning In Retirement website for more information.
17. I am trying to contact a former classmate at Carleton. Can you help me get in touch?

18. How can I donate? Can I donate online?

19. How can I get involved as a volunteer?
Volunteers play a vital role in supporting the interests and advancement of the Carleton University Alumni Association (CUAA) and the university. Within the CUAA, there are positions available on the National Executive Council or with chapter or affiliate. Alumni Events
21. Is there a formal reunion program at Carleton?
Carleton University supports and recognizes 10th, 20th, 25th, 30th, 40th, 45th and 50th milestone anniversary reunions as well as reunions for “Founders”- those alumni who have already celebrated their 50th anniversary. This annual event is organized by the Alumni Relations team of the Department of University Advancement. For more information please contact the department by email at cu_proud@carleton.ca.
22. If my anniversary does not fall within one of the designated milestone anniversary years, what kind of support does the university provide?
Alumni Relations will assist individuals, classes and groups in organizing their reunions by providing advice and suggestions. This includes offering ideas for venues, catering, and more. If timing permits, we can advertise your reunion on the events listing on the Carleton Events Calendar. For more information please contact the Alumni Relations team at cu_proud@carleton.ca.
23. Can I get a class list of names and contact information for my former classmates?
No. Carleton University is committed to protecting the privacy of your personal information. Personal information about graduates cannot be disclosed to anyone other than Carleton employees or volunteers as required for their work in support of Carleton University.
