About Alan Galley
Alan Galley joined Canada Mining Innovation Council in November 2011. In his role as Director for the CMIC he works closely with 25 partner companies and lead university researchers to develop research projects in support of more effective research in the deep, covered and remote terrains of Canada.
Alan trained as an economic geologist, he has a Ph.D. in Geology and more than 30 years’ experience as a mineral deposit researcher and as a science manager. After a brief consulting career, Alan joined the Mineral Resources Division of the Geological Survey of Canada. During his tenure as a research scientist he published 26 peer-reviewed journal papers, 13 authoritative reviews, 33 government reports and maps, and 15 technical reports.
Alan has also led and co-led several national mineral deposit research initiatives. This was followed by 10 years as a science manager at the GSC, finishing his career there after 27 years as Minerals Director.
