What makes you a good mentor?

Being a Carleton grad, and having had the opportunity to study, work and grow in Ottawa, I owe much of my success to my past and current mentors. Their ability to steer me to the right path with years of experience is truly invaluable. I am now in a position, where I have had the privilege to work, learn and grow in my career. I enjoy meeting people, and would love to share my experiences with fellow students to help them understand the various opportunities that are available in Ottawa.

About Tuhin Das

I am a results oriented professional who enjoys working in challenging environments with expertise in business development, program management, community leadership and development, marketing and stakeholder relations. I am a highly motivated self-starter with strong team and relationship building skills with ability to identify client’s needs, make recommendations and implement effective solutions for organizational growth and corporate success.

My role at D-TA Systems Inc, an Ottawa based company catering to the EW / ISR markets, allows me to connect and focus on the defense and aerospace industry, and work globally.

I am also serving as the immediate Past President/Vice President of the Association of Old Crows, Maple Leaf Chapter (MLC). The MLC is part of a global association, with a network of over 13,000 professionals globally. The MLC’s mandate is to serve as a platform for information exchange and promote professional development opportunities to its members. Currently the MLC works with Carleton University’s Dept. of Engineering to deliver world class professional development courses.

Through my earlier role at ISTPCanada (a Government agency that facilitates the creation of global technology partnerships that open new markets and trade doors for Canadian companies), I helped in the program delivery of the India, Brazil & China R&D Funding programs. Included effectively managing several local and international stakeholders; in particular working with Canadian SMEs, academia and industry experts in the R&D sector.

As a core member of TiE Ottawa executive team, I help create and distribute marketing content to engage defined target audiences, transfer knowledge and create awareness of entrepreneurship training and leadership development opportunities available through the TiE network. I was also part of the organizing committee for the TiECon Canada 2014/15 (TiE’s flagship conference for entrepreneurs, SMEs and industry veterans, investors etc.);
