Her Excellency Ruth Elizabeth Rouse was appointed Ambassador/Permanent Representative of Grenada to the United Nations on November 01, 2004. She joined the Grenada Foreign Service in 1982 and served in various capacities including High Commissioner for Grenada to the Court of James’s (U.K.); Non-Resident High Commissioner to the Republic of South Africa; Chief of Protocol to the Government of Grenada; and in a regional capacity at the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States High Commission in Ottawa, Canada.
Rouse is the recipient of the 1998 Grenada Independence Award for Exemplary Public Service. She received the Women Who Make A Difference Award in 2005 from the NGO Committee on the Status of Women, New York.
In addition to her degree in French and Spanish from Carleton, Rouse has an MA in diplomatic studies from the University of Westminster, United Kingdom.
