As a folk singer in the 60s, Vera Grossman moved people on campus and at coffeehouses with her powerful voice. Now, as CEO of the Boyd Group of Companies, she moves people — and businesses, government and multinationals — as part of the regular business of the group’s five divisions that encompass residential moving, corporate warehousing and distribution.
After studying sociology and psychology, Klein pursued teaching before joining the family business. After 20 years working for the company, she was named CEO in 1996.
“My liberal arts degree laid the foundation and groundwork for my diversified path,” says Klein, who is a staunch supporter of Carleton and her community. She has established undergraduate music scholarships at Carleton, is a member of Carleton’s Board of Governors (2005-10), is chairperson for the State of Israel Bonds Ottawa and has been involved in numerous charity functions.
Klein was given Carleton’s Alumni Volunteer of the Year Award in May 2010 for her contributions to the Board of Governors (2005-10),Azrieli School of Architecture and Urbanism Advisory Council, Annual Fund Committee and Founders Award Selection Committee.
