Entrepreneur Barbara Coll is the founder and CEO of WebMama.com, Inc., a $3.7 million a year search engine marketing company. Founded in 1996, WebMama was named one the 100 fastest growing companies in the San Francisco Business Times in 2005. The company’s clients include many of the top names in B2B and B2C online businesses, including HP, WebEx, Intuit and Shoes.com.
Coll is a recognized expert and pioneer in the field of search engine marketing (SEM). She is a sought-after presenter for industry conferences and is on the Advisory Board of Ad-Tech – the online marketing industry conference. Coll is an advisor to many Silicon Valley start-ups, has close ties with the search engines (Google, Yahoo, MSN) and is a leader in the effort to convince North American-based companies to reach the Spanish-speaking marketplace through SEM. She was instrumental in promoting the value of search engine advertising to companies that sell into the enterprise.
She is the founding president and chairperson of the Board of the non-profit Search Engine Marketing Professional Organization (SEMPO).
Coll was born and raised in Ottawa. She is the daughter of Carleton Professor Emeritus David C. Coll and a founder and contributor to the David C. Coll Scholarship in Communications Engineering. She resides in Menlo Park, California, in the heart of Silicon Valley, with her husband John and son James.
