…President Benoit-Antoine Bacon is pleased to invite you to this exciting event!
Providing meaningful support, access to education and developmental opportunities to Ottawa youth is a shared priority issue for Carleton University and a variety of community-based organizations in the National Capital Region.
Carleton’s Centre for Initiatives in Education (CIE), which offers transition to degree and learning support to individuals from a variety of non-traditional educational backgrounds, has been working collaboratively with donors and partners for many years to address this issue and support students. We know that by pooling our efforts and working together, we can accomplish much more—including providing services, resources and access to education that will help our youth reach their potential and contribute to the greater good of society.
At the Community Connections – Access to Education & Youth Support event, hosted by the CIE, we will bring together diverse organizations and individuals with similar values. Our select speakers will highlight their experiences with the CIE, as well as share their successes, challenges and insights in the areas of access to education and/or youth support.
The event will feature networking opportunities and presentations from Dr. Daniel Crépault, former CIE student and criminology expert; Huzaifa Mazhar, former CIE student and current Bachelor of Engineering student; Bruce Lawson, President & CEO of the Counselling Foundation of Canada; and Susan Burhoe, coordinator of programs, student advisor and contract instructor at Carleton. A Q&A session will take place following the presentations. Current and former CIE students will be in attendance to share their perspectives and experiences.
