Together we will cover highlights of the 2021-22 virtual mentorship program, provide mentors and mentees the opportunity to share reflections, celebrate our graduating mentees and thank all of our mentors for their support.

This 1-hour virtual presentation, geared towards incoming mentees, features an overview of the Alumni Mentors program, more insight on what to expect and tips on how to make the most of your mentorship experience and to engage in a meaningful partnership with purpose. You will also learn practical virtual networking and communication takeaways from Career Services.

This one-hour virtual opportunity will include remarks from Chief Advancement & Community Liaison Officer, Department of University Advancement, Jennifer Conley (Alumni Mentor), Carleton University Alumni Association Executive member, Glen Barber (Alumni Mentor) as well as an overview of what is in store for the 2021-22 virtual iteration of the program and reflections from returning mentors and mentees.

Leaning into who you are: Strengths-Based Development Workshop (Virtual)

Date: Friday, January 14th, 2022
Time: 4:00-6:00pm EST
Location: Zoom (to be shared closer to event date by email)

Join us as Gallup Certified Strengths Coach and mentor, Kaylee Mask, guides us through strengths-based development!

The goal of our time together will be to help you understand your unique strengths, how to leverage those in your work and personal life, and recognize the value your strengths bring to you and your relationships. This workshop is interactive and participatory, so you will be encouraged to turn on your microphone and camera to fully engage with other mentees.

8th Annual SOAR Student Leadership Conference (Virtual)

Date: Saturday, January 22, 2022
Time: 9:00am-2:00pm EST

Each year, this one-day conference at Carleton includes a keynote speaker, expert speakers, student leaders and panel presentations. This year’s programming will be held virtually with influential presentations and interactive opportunities to help students grow their leadership skills. Carleton University is proud to host Canadian Olympian Andre De Grasse as the Keynote Speaker for SOAR 2022.

Staying Intentional in 2022, with Chris Bailey, Productivity and Performance Expert, Bestselling Author and Alumni Mentor (Virtual)

In this workshop, Chris Bailey, BCom/13, Alumni Mentor, and bestselling author, will guide you through how to stay productive and intentional in 2022, while taming some stress in the process. In this interactive session, he’ll walk you through a few fun, practical/tactical exercises—to help you set work-related and personal priorities for the year, calculate your “biological prime time” (a hit from his previous session that he’ll dig even more deeply into), and to tame distraction, to help you focus more deeply on what’s truly important.

This 1-hour session will be broken up into 3 modules, with mini Q&A’s following each theme. We hope to see you there!

Mentee LinkedIn and Networking Workshop (Virtual)

In this workshop, Tracy Saxton, Career Consultant from Carleton’s Career Services, will be leading the mentees through how to prepare their LinkedIn profiles and use the platform for digital networking. Please bring your questions as we discuss the benefits to networking, how to enhance your LinkedIn profile, and learn about Informational Interviews.
