Barry Hobin graduated from Carleton in 1974 with a Bachelor of Architecture. Since launching Barry J. Hobin and Associates Architects in 1979, he has built a professional reputation by combining his signature style with a cost effective, sensitive design approach. He has been involved in hundreds of commercial, institutional and residential projects and has won awards nationally, provincially and locally for his designs, including the Ottawa Citizen’s 1999 People’s Choice Award.
Hobin is recognized and respected throughout the Ottawa community as a committed leader. A Past President and Fellow of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada, he is a strong advocate for architecture and has served as Chairman of the Committee of Adjustments for the City of Ottawa, Design Committee Chair for the City of Kanata Town Centre and is the Director for Habitat for Humanity, National Capital Region.
In 2000, Hobin was presented with the A.D. Dunton Alumni Award of Distinction in recognition of his outstanding work.
